This took place in a field under the stars near the village of Lyssareia in the Pelopponese, and is called Temenos – Greek for ‘precinct, a sacred space’. The first 20 hours were shown at Temenos 2004 and Temenos 2008, so my journey in 2012 is only a small section of a much longer pilgrimage. The event was made possible by the efforts of the film-maker Robert Beavers and a team of helpers, and honours the work of Markopoulos, one of the key figures of the New American Cinema in the 1950s and 1960s.The diary is written in a lively, engaging style and, along with several photographs, seeks to convey the uniqueness of this project.
